Pupils from Golden Grove School-Ysgol Gelli Aur in Pembroke played host this week to their local Fire Service Community Education Officer, Lee Simmons.

Lee facilitated an engaging and participative session with pupils from years three and five in the school.

The year three pupils joined him in narrating a poem about the dangers of playing with matches and fire and learned the 'Don't touch, tell' message with enthusiasm.

The simple message teaches children not to touch matches or lighters, but instead tell an adult what they have found.

They were rewarded for their efforts by Lee allowing them to try on the leggings, tunic gloves and helmet which was from the standard Fire and Rescue Service kit.

The pupils gave Lee a great cheer of thanks at the end of the session and left the presentation proudly wearing the sticker badges he gave them.

The school would like to thank Lee and the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service for their work.

At a recent school assembly, a group of eight pupils were awarded prizes for their efforts in designing anti-bullying posters and slogans.

The competition was run in conjunction with the national Anti Bullying Week.

Pupils from classes in Key Stage Two were involved in the activity and ideas created will be taken forward to the school council.

Pupils from the ASK (Acquiring Skills and Knowledge) after school club have finished a four-week programme learning about safe and tasty food preparation.

From learning the basic skills of cleanliness and food preparation to what needs to be included in a healthy diet, the pupils had a chance to put it all in to practice last week when they made toast pizzas.

Using all the skills they had acquired, they prepared a delicious meal and enjoyed the fruits of their labours afterwards.

Out of school, a group of pupils have been involved in a swimming gala run through Urdd Gobaith Cymru.

Megan, Nell, Fern-Daisy and Ffion (pictured) took part in the Urdd National Swimming Gala held at the Cardiff International Pool.

The swimmers who were representing Pembrokeshire took part in the 'girls three to four' free-style race and achieved great results at the event.
