A new Youth Club has opened in Pembroke for young people aged 11-plus.
The weekly club launched on Monday, at Golden Manor Nursery, in Pembroke North, is known locally as 'the green'.
The opening night included the chance to get up close to various reptiles with Silent World, and future sessions include handling birds of prey and learning about how drug sniffer dogs are trained.
The Pembroke North Youth Club will be held every Monday evening in term-time between 6 and 8 pm.
A joint project between Pembrokeshire County Council and Communities First, it will be run by youth workers from the county council.
"The club will offer informal learning opportunities for young people in a fun and safe environment where they can meet with friends," said community youth worker Tim Ramsey.
He added: "The skills and confidence which can be gained from becoming an active member of a youth club can be used throughout life, benefiting both individuals and communities, and complementing school education."
Clr. Ken Rowlands, cabinet member for education, wished the club every success.
"It's great to hear that there is a new and exciting provision for the young people in Pembroke North, and I hope it goes from strength to strength," he said.
