Tenby Town Council have once again stated that more action is needed from Pembrokeshire County Council regarding the situation at South Beach, relating to the erosion of sand which since before the summer is now showing up exposed power cables and other trip hazards.

PCC have previously stated that dredging sand from Tenby’s North Beach and harbour area was not a ‘feasible solution’ to solving the sand level problems on South Beach.

During a meeting of the town council on Tuesday night, members received correspondence from PCC’s head of environment and civil contingencies, Richard Brown, who stated that the Authority’s coastal engineer Emyr Williams had completed a survey which would require an interpretative report.

“The movement of sand appears to be natural and beaches are recognised as very dynamic environments which are constantly changing. The sand is likely to return at some point,” said Mr. Brown.

The town council agreed that questions they had previously asked had not been answered with regards to action be taken.
