Sir,
May I, through your letters page convey the following message.
An Evening of Mindless Drivel at the Tenby Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Saturday night was a huge success. This was mainly down to the support we received from the public, both local and far, far away. People from England and Scotland had travelled down to see our crazy show, and what with a TV production company filming the entire event, it will no doubt cross over other borders.
Myself and Nicky Lloyd came up with the idea nearly four years ago. Moulded around the old ‘Gang Show’ format, we wanted to give it a more adult theme.
With music, poetry performance and comedy sketches, we filled the small venue of Tenby’s Cafe Vista in the first year. This in turn meant going to the Bowling Club the following year, which too was filled to capacity.
The show almost sold out again this year, despite having to compete with the rugby and other big functions around the county.
People have come up to me and have said. ‘What about the De Valence or the Queen’s Hall next?’
That’s a big leap, to go from filling 200-odd seats to 500. Also our costs have increased due to buying new props, paying artists to do backdrops, hiring doormen and whatever else.
We do, however, have some excellent performers and very talented people on board, so who knows?
Lance Russell,
Nicky Lloyd.
