How have you been keeping yourself busy during lockdown? Well, 81-year-old Roger Howells, of Saundersfoot has been making models like these during lockdown – and for the past 70 years, says carer Jackie Ross.

Roger was born in Pembrokeshire and attended Greenhill Grammar school after which he joined the RAF as an engineering officer. He trained at the RAF technical college and Bristol university.

He retired from the Airforce and became Director of an aircraft engineering company before qualifying as a solicitor in the city of London before retiring back to Pembrokeshire.

Roger continues his model making despite now being confined to a wheelchair. He can also be sometimes seen driving his MG when the sun shines and the lockdown laws allow.
