Springboard's recent photography exhibition got off to a flying start at Pater Hall in Pembroke Dock.

The private view on the opening evening pulled in a tremendous crowd, and there really was a buzz in the air as everyone talked about the images taken by Springboard families capturing the local area of each participating school.

Pembroke Dock, St. Mary's and Pennar Primary Schools took the bicentenary of Pembroke Dock as their theme for the exhibition, while families at Golden Grove photographed their local area.

The private view was attended by all the Springboard families who took part in the photography courses, plus a number of guests including Clr. Sue Perkins, Pamela George, Mayor of Pembroke Dock, and senior staff from participating schools.

Beverley Thomas, the tutor who led the workshops and was instrumental in the curation of the show, did an outstanding job.

She was highly praised by the Springboard co-ordinator for having had the vision and passion for putting on such a professional looking exhibition.

The exhibition was held over a weekend following the private view, and raised a staggering £800 - all of which will be reinvested to buy new cameras for future Springboard students to learn with.

The Springboard programme is a dynamic community based project that offers free adult and family learning opportunities in six primary schools located in the more deprived areas of Pembrokeshire.
