Manorbier Castle was buzzing with activity at the recent Family Fun Day organised by the Rotary Club of Pembroke. It was held at the castle by the kind permission of the trustees and raised £1,800 for local causes, half of which will be given to the Paul Sartori Foundation.
Numerous stalls, such as the Coconut Shy, kept both children and their parents amused, while the Snail Racing proved as exciting as ever. The Collegiate Knights Templar provided spectacular displays of mediaeval battle, displaying the awesome power of their weapons by smashing coconuts. Their descriptions of how knights were prepared for battle fascinated as well as educated.
Teas and cakes were provided by the ladies of Pembroke Inner Wheel, while fine music from the Pembroke Silver Band entertained the crowd.
Manorbier Castle donated all the admission charges from the day to the causes, with Main Port Engineering (1990) Ltd, Silcox Vehicle Rentals, Rtn David Jakeway, Millforge Garage Ltd, Alliance Lifting Services, Tarmac Aggregates and Adept Dry Cleaners sponsoring the event.
