Tenby RNLI assisted in the evacuation of an injured climber from a South Pembrokeshire beauty spot.

The resort's ILB was tasked by Milford Haven Coastguard while on exercise last Thursday afternoon to help locate an injured person, following a report from a member of the public of a man with leg injuries trapped on an isolated beach near Stackpole Head.

The volunteer crew located the 36-year-old man still attached to his climb rope on the cliff face near Stackpole Head.

The ILB traversed through heavy surf by veering on its anchor to put a crew member on the beach.

Once ashore, he was able to coax the injured man down the cliff face, assisted by his climbing partner, to a point close to the water's edge.

The crew member assisted the casualty up the beach where he was able to stabilise and treat him.

An air ambulance arrived and transported the casualty to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.

The ILB then returned to the beach to collect the crew member before returning to station.
