Pembroke Dock Fire Station once again this year undertook their annual Firework Safety Awareness Competition and Campaign.
Throughout the month of October, the crew from Pembroke Dock Station visited the 11 local Junior Schools within the district, where they discussed and educated the pupils on how to be safe on Fireworks Night.
As in previous years, the crews asked the pupils of Years 3 and 4 to create a poster and Years 5 and 6 to produce a leaflet, with pictures, information and safety messages to promote being safe on fireworks night.
The station received a huge number of entries which made it very difficult to choose the prize winners.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place were chosen for Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6, along with six runners-up and two prizes for originality. Prizes ranged from Applie iPads, Apple iPod, Amazon Fire Tablet and Amazon Fire Sticks.
As in previous years, Valero Energy Ltd. (Pembroke Refinery) sponsored the campaign with a donation to purchase the prizes, along with full support and donation from Pembrokeshire Fire Service Command.
The presentation evening took place at Pembroke Dock Fire Station on Monday, December 12, where all the prize winners attended with their families, Will James (public affairs assistant at Valero Energy Ltd.), the duty crew and group manager David Swann (Pembrokeshire County Commander).
Pembroke Dock Fire Station would like to congratulate all the winners and send a huge thank you to all the schools and pupils who entered the competition. Also with a very special thank you to the sponsors, Valero Energy Ltd. and Pembrokeshire Fire Service Command.
