It's full steam ahead as the Sunderland Trust gets set to open the doors of the new and exciting Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre - located in the iconic Royal Dockyard Chapel.
Wales' only Georgian military chapel, now beautifully restored, opens to the public today (Friday). It replaces the Sunderland Trust's visitor centre at the nearby Fleet Surgeon's House.
The Trust's army of volunteers have come up trumps to make the move happen and there are displays, artefacts and interpretation which reflect the remarkable naval, military, aviation and social story of the Dockyard town.
Opening the Heritage Centre is a major event in Pembroke Dock's bicentennial year and is the realisation of a vision long held by Sunderland trustees, staff and volunteers.
The Heritage Centre, which includes a café and shop, will be manned by the volunteer team from Mondays to Saturdays, 10 am to 5 pm. The Sunderland Trust's original attraction, the very popular Flying Boat Centre, is not affected and remains open as normal, Tuesdays - Saturdays inclusive, 10 am - 4 pm.
