The success of a walk-in medical centre in Tenby could see the provision extended.
A meeting of the Hywel Dda University Health Board due to be held today (Thursday) will consider an evaluation on the nurse-led service, located at the Tenby Cottage Hospital building on Gas Lane.
The health board is being asked to support an action plan for the year-round service which commenced in July of last year, which has seen 6,068 patients who would otherwise have gone to a GP practice or Withybush Hospital’s A & E department treated in its first 15 months.
A report to the health board also reveals that, around 400 patients a month have used the service, with this figure rising to just over 600 patients a month during the busiest summer periods, with the majority of comments from patients ‘very positive’, and staff keen to further develop the service and see it more widely promoted.
