Councillors in Tenby have asked for ‘Pembrokeshire’ representation to sit on a group put together by the the local health authority to focus on linking services and defining a vision for the future.
Correspondence from Mrs. Libby Ryan-Davies, of the Hywel Dda University Health Board, came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night.
Mrs. Ryan-Davies explained that she had recently commenced her role as Transformation director for the health board, and was keen to set out the scope and focus of the programme.
“The Transformation programme is an eternal programme to the health board which is led by our chief executive. The challenges being faced by the health board are shared by health and social care systems nationally and internationally and therefore there are many opportunities to work with others to consider solutions,” she wrote.
“An initial Transformation group has been established made up of clinicians and managers from across our health and social care system, to start the thinking, and define the key areas of focus for the programme.
“This group will have a key role in linking with all parts of our existing services, listening and learning from what currently happens, and linking this to our wider learning.
“The transformation programme provides a focus on how we can design our services to meet the future needs of our population, and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the people who deliver and use our services in defining our vision,” she added.
Responding to the letter, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas, who is also secretary of the South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network, thanked Mrs Ryan-Davies for the information, and said that the town council would be grateful for further updates on the group.
Her colleague Clr. Ben James told members that he had done some research, and there didn’t appear to be anyone Pembrokeshire based sitting on the group, and asked of the town council could write to request representation from the county.
