It's been good to hear some good news from Afghanistan, said Rob James, Pastor of Westgate Evangelical Chapel, Pembroke.

Rob was reflecting on William Beharral's recent visit to the church when he shared details of the regeneration work he has been involved in for the past five years.

William, who is about to study medicine at Cambridge, worked for an NGO in Kabul which seeks to preserve Afghan heritage and rebuild its shattered community life.

"William was particularly involved in projects that sustained Afghan arts and culture as well as developing a clinic for 'the poorest of the poor'," said Rob James.

"It was a gift to the Afghan people and is now under Afghan management. It is thrilling to see people of faith wanting to make a difference wherever they are and wherever they can.

"We thank God for William and his family, including his parents Jonathon and Angela, who worship with us regularly, and we pray they will continue to channels of God's love wherever he takes them in the future."
