Villagers gathered in their numbers at the Freshwater Inn on Saturday, October 12, for a farewell lunch to thank Roger the postman for everything he has done for Freshwater East.
Roger Howells, of Pembroke, is retiring after working for Royal Mail for 44 years, 18 of which have been spent driving around all the nooks and crannies of the lanes and burrows of Freshwater East village.
He knows everyone and his constant cheerfulness and helpfulness, especially with the older members of the community will not be forgotten. His level of dedication will be a very hard act to follow.
The community expressed their gratitude for his excellent service and wish him a long and happy retirement. He will be very much missed.
