To support the Megan’s Starr Foundation, Pembrokeshire‘s Limelight School for Performing Arts will soon be staging their annual performance at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven.

The evening, entitled, “Wonderland”, is a compilation of musical theatre, film and literature pieces, exploring themes of daily pressures and how these can be overcome. Performers all attend Limelight’s Saturday Stage School and one to one singing lessons and are aged between 4 and 18.

The performance takes place at the Torch Theatre on Wednesday, July 5, starting at 6.30pm. Head to the Torch Theatre website for tickets.

Angharad, who runs the school said:“Our annual performance at the Torch Theatre aims to celebrate the jewels inside every one of our students. They spend the year working on performing techniques, alongside mindfulness, positivity and anxiety reduction. Many of our students are neuro-diverse, and in our classes all our differences are celebrated and explored.

“The production is being opened by the wonderful Milford Haven School band, collaboration is something that is at the heart of our work, and an ideal that we seek to encourage in our young people.

“This production is in support of the Megan’s Starr Foundation, a foundation that offers support to many young people, something that I am passionate about our students knowing is available to them.

“Last year’s performance, despite being sold out and all of the Limelight staff giving their time freely, resulted in a minor loss, meaning that there were no proceeds to give to the foundation due to the hire costs of the theatre. Due to this, the foundation have asked that we emphasise that the performance this year is aiming to raise awareness for them, however, we are committed to any profits made being donated directly to them.

“The only costs we incur mounting this show are for the theatre hire, as all of the Limelight staff and musicians give their time freely for the event and I am so grateful to them for supporting these young people year on year.”

If any local companies would be interested in sponsoring the event, ensuring the maximum possible funds are raised for the foundation and that the students have the best performing experience, contact Limelight directly via their Facebook page. (www.facebook.co.uk/limelightpembs)
