The audience at Pembrokeshire’s Folly Farm showed its appreciation of Friday night's show by giving Shakin’ Stevens (aka Rebel Dean) a standing ovation (writes Phil Thompson).
Hit after hit from the 80's as well as Shaky's life story was very much appreciated by an audience of around 230 on Friday, April 25.
It would have been difficult not to like Rebel’s warm personality and energy throughout the show, Whole Lotta Shakin’ - The Shakin’ Stevens Story.
“What a showman!” accompanied a photo sent to me this morning by someone who decided to come at the last moment and said they'd have been very sorry to have missed it.
In the second half, Rebel shook hands with many of the audience and distributed scarves with a touching moment of giving the last scarf to a lady who danced at the front for much of the show.
Towards the end, people (…yes, some men too!) found it difficult to remain seated as they joined in with singing, hand clapping and dancing resulting in a Big Party Atmosphere. There was fulsome feedback from the retiring audience.
Thanks to Rotarians who helped with the lead up to Friday and to those who came with partners and friends. Your help and attendance DID make a difference, raising over £750 for charity.
Thanks also go to EPS, Wayne Morse and Magnum Sound, Phil Hughes for providing an excellent sound and lighting system at a very reasonable rate for Rotary.
Lastly, it would not have been possible to organise, or stage, the event without Chris and Karina Ebsworth providing Folly Farm (and staff on the night) free of charge to Rotary.
Narberth and Whitland Rotary meets every Wednesday at 7pm at the Plas Hyfyrd Hotel in Narberth. The club raises funds by putting on events and initiatives to support the local community.
