There was a special welcome for Dr Robert Davies, speaker for the evening at the September meeting of St Issell’s WI.

Dr Davies’ talk was entitled “Fifty Shades of Pembrokeshire”, and he showed several and varied places in Pembrokeshire pointing out the different shades and colours, of rocks, trees, clouds, rivers, beaches and the sea, with some very interesting coves.

He also had many historical facts which made the talk even more interesting.  Jeanette John thanked him for a most enjoyable evening.

Following refreshments, Bee Poole was thanked for the flowers for the top table, and birthday wishes went to Eva Rich, who thanked the WI for her braille birthday card, and to Shelagh Griffin.

There was also a special welcome to some new ladies, Judy Davies, Sharon Karpaty and Mandy Odell.

It was hoped to have the plaque for the bay tree in the Sensory Garden before too long, and Mary Lawrence and Sheila Spiller were thank for doing the flowers for the Saundersfoot in Bloom flower festival in August.  Thanks was also expressed to the ladies who had done the refreshments.

Diane, Julia King-Thomas and Anne Leech agreed to look after the stall at the Regency Hall 10th anniversary Open Day on September 16.

George Cavell was thanked for once again varnishing the WI train at Coppet Hall.

Four or five ladies will be attending the Autumn Council Meeting in November, and there was some discussion about a harvest lunch.

It was hoped to arrange a meeting in October of those interested to consider an entry for next year’s Anything Goes.

This month’s competition winner was Joan Parry, and the lucky raffle winner was Joy Nixon.  President Diane, who had opened the meeting with a welcome, now wished ladies a safe journey home, looking forward to the October meeting.
