Work to update the engraving on the Deputy Mayor’s chain of office could set Tenby Town Council back over £1,000.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk, Andrew Davies, told members that the Deputy Mayor’s chain had not been upgraded since 2010, and that the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, suggested that this needed addressing before the cost was to rise again.
“The firm advised that the cost to carry out the work to the chains would be £1,282 and that the prices would rise again next month,” Mr. Davies explained.
Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, suggested that the work be carried out annually, to keep the cost down to a more reasonable sum every year.
“We used to do it that way, but I don’t know what’s happened, but it’s got to be done to maintain the Mayoral chains,” she said.
