Dr. Heather Skinner, a lecturer at Glamorgan University, was invited to Pembroke by the town council to 'walkaround' the Main Street and locality and offer any advice and guidance on ways to improve the area and to make it more 'attractive' to both tourists and residents alike.

In recent months, Dr. Skinner has been involved in a documentary with the BBC called 'Heather on the High Street' where she worked with residents and shop owners in Swansea.

Whilst Dr. Skinner found many areas in which Pembroke could promote itself further by the use of new technology, ie internet, Facebook etc., and by improving signage around the town, she was also very positive.

She had very excellent ideas regarding the interaction of the town council, local community, businesses, community-based projects and schools to work together to 'get things done'.

She felt that whilst Pembroke is steeped in local history, the town at present isn't 'making the most of what it has. There are fantastic walks to be had and terrific views which need to be positively promoted to ensure that visitors come to Pembroke which in turn will benefit local businesses and the community as a whole'.

Dr. Skinner will be providing the town council with a summary report of her findings.
