Back to our more recent past, last week I wrote about our exhibition which was called 'Entertainment in Times Past'. Following this, I met Mr. Steve James who, it transpired, did a great deal in organising entertainments and actually produced the St. Michael's pantomimes for a dozen or so years from around 1970. The annual panto was a great event in Pembroke, as popular as the Michaelmas Fair. The first pantomime, Steve told me, was supposed to last just three days, but such was the demand, that the pantos lasted a whole week, with coaches of people arriving from all around, from Angle to St. Florence. His Christmas Day often got taken over with putting the final touches to props and costumes ready for the big opening on Boxing Day!

Don't forget - Haggar's Night is tonight at Pembroke Town Hall! It starts at 7.30 pm, free entry and all welcome. Bring along your memories - we'd love to hear them!
