Pembrokeshire Communities First have been involved with a range of initiatives aimed at getting more children and young people outside and active.

In Pembroke Dock, a fantastic Street Games project kicked off during the summer holidays.  Weekly sports sessions for seven to 11-year-olds were held at the local Pennar Robins football pitches. Boys and girls from the local area pitched up and were able to choose from a wide variety of games on offer, including football, tag rugby, kwik cricket, rounders, hockey and tennis.

These sessions would not have been possible without volunteers (of all ages!), some of whom have spent many hours planning the project from the very start, as well as the support of the Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Volunteers, who are from the Bush and Park Tenants and Residents Association, Pembroke Dock Youth Centre, Pennar Robins AFC and the nearby Pembroke Dock McDonalds, have delivered the sessions with enthusiasm and energy.

Next street games session for seven to 11-year-olds in Pembroke Dock will take place in half-term on Tuesday, October 29, 11 am - 1 pm, on Pennar Robins pitches if dry and in Pembroke Dock Youth Centre if wet. This will involve a special coaching session from Sport Pembrokeshire's hockey development officer.

Street games sessions are open access and not a child care facility. Under 7s must be accompanied by an adult. Remember - wear casual shoes and clothes. It's a fun, free activity on the doorstep!
