Sir,
I do not think that your readers should be too impressed that the EU Convergence programme has provided funds to Pembrokeshire to the tune of £120 million pounds over a six-year period. They are merely returning a small proportion of the money paid to the EU by the UK Government, i.e. all of us taxpayers.
In 2014 we were paying £55million pounds a day in gross contributions! True we get some of it back in funding for projects, such as those in Pembrokeshire. However, if we were not in EU, there would be a huge saving. More funds could then be allocated to projects decided upon by the Welsh Government, rather than having to be approved by unelected Brussels bureaucrats.
Robert Duffield,
