The date for the extraordinary meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council requisitioned by East Williamston councillor, Clr. Jacob Williams, has been set by the authority's chairman.

Clr. Williams called for the meeting following a planning inspectorate appeal decision in his ward, in which the inspector appointed to the appeal found that the council had an 'ongoing failure of policy' with regard to gypsies and travellers, and that he was not persuaded that enough was being done to meet the demand for pitches.

The requisition, co-signed by Clrs. Tony Brinsden, David Bryan, Tessa Hodgson and Gwilym Price, asked for the meeting to be called to discuss the 'future prospects of the authority's recently-adopted Local Development Plan' - specifically policies GN.31 and GN.32 - following: 'a recent Planning Inspectorate appeal decision on a gypsy application in which the appointed Inspector stated that the harm of the proposed development in an agricultural field in the open countryside was outweighed by the council's 'ongoing failure of policy' and granted full consent.'

The meeting, which is open to the public, is arranged to be held next Friday (September 6) at 10 am in County Hall, Haverfordwest.
