A Pembroke Dock woman who breached her community order has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Thirty-two-year-old Carla Bishton, of Castle Street, Pennar, was charged with failing to comply with the requirements of a community order when she appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Monday to admit the offence.

Ms. Bishton was brought before the court after she failed to attend unpaid work appointments on August 19 and November 4.

The defendant also failed to provide acceptable evidence as to why she missed her scheduled appointments.

Probation officer, Julie Norman told the court that Ms. Bishton was given a 12-month community order on February 20 for an offence of drink-driving.

Ms. Norman added that the defendant was in court on July 31 after breaching her community order for the first time.

Magistrates also heard that Ms. Bishton had only completed eight of the 100 hours of unpaid work that she was required to carry out.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that his client accepted culpability for her actions.

However, he said that Ms. Bishton had been diagnosed with a social anxiety disorder and as a result she found it difficult to place herself in public places.

Mr. Webb added that the defendant had been signed off, but said she had provided no evidence within the specific time to explain her absence.

He concluded his remarks by saying the situation was not helped as Ms. Bishton’s ex-partner went to the same probation office.

Ms. Bishton’s community order was revoked and she was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

The chairman of the bench told the defendant: “Keep out of trouble or that will be activated.”

The defendant was also ordered to pay £50 in costs.
