AT the meeting of Stackpole and Castlemartin Community Council, held in Bosherston Church Hall on Monday, April 13, the following local matters were discussed:
Stackpole Church Hall: The councillors asked the clerk to chase up safety concerns. The Archdeacon has stated that Stackpole Church Hall is to be demolished as it is unsafe, and a letter from Pembrokeshire County Council detailed the proposed demolition, but there is no current timetable for works and no diocese surveyor in place. In the absence of response from the diocese, the clerk agreed to send another email. Cllr Morris agreed to make contact with Paul McNess as the collapse of the roof is now posing a health and safety issue. The clerk has sent an email to Henry Tufnell MP to see if he can help resolve the matter.
Jason’s Corner Garages: Gaynor Toft, Head of Housing at Pembrokeshire County Council, told the clerk that an Inspector has visited and has raised two tickets to carry minor repairs to a door and lock. The inspector has passed the photos of garages onto the capital team and they will assess them and decide on the best way forward.
Defibrillator Signage: Cllr David Rees is in the process of organising signage for the defibrillators.
Stackpole VC School Carved Arch: Councillor Clare Strudwick has spoken to Robert Jakes who has offered to refurbish the arch with a view to re-siting it within the National Trust Stackpole Estate. The next stage is to establish whether the wood will stand up to be being removed.
St Twynnells: Councillor Alderman will make arrangements to cut the play park hedge back over the coming weeks, weather permitting. The clerk has chased up an email to Pembrokeshire County Council Highway Maintenance team asking when the sign that was situated outside Loveston Farm showing the direction to St Twynnells will be returned.
Pride In Place Impact Fund: The councillors would like to apply for funding for the replacement of the St Twynnells Play Park fencing and to purchase four external seats for Castlemartin village. The clerk has submitted an expression of interest for this funding.
Parking and potholes: Councillor Matt Nicholas will contact Marc Owen of Pembrokeshire County Council to organise a multi-agency meeting to discuss the parking issues at both Bosherston and Freshwater West. Councillor Claire Strudwick met with Peter Morgan to discuss pothole issues. It was noted at the meeting that a pothole at Sampson Cross had been repaired very poorly and requires repairing again. Further potholes were identified at Merrion, Chapel Hill, outside the entrance to Sampson Farm and at Castlemartin Brownslade.
St Petrox Bends: The councillors asked the clerk to contact PCC requesting a sharp 90-degree bend sign just after the sign for Coed Melyn at St Petrox.
Other issues raised included flooded road at Cheriton, fly tipping, the non-collection of rubbish on the back road from East Trewent to Stackpole, and untaxed vehicles at Stackpole Car Park.
Next meeting: Castlemartin Village Hall, 7.30pm, Monday, May 11.
