SING! Youth Gospel Choir gave a rousing performance at Carew Methodist Church on a very hot afternoon (July 9) and they had an exceptionally enthusiastic audience - Korean members of the London Central Church.

Founded by Diana Taylor and run by volunteers, the choir enables children and young people from across Pembrokeshire to join together from different communities and learn a varied repertoire of gospel songs. Children of all abilities sing together regularly, build friendships, grow in confidence and have opportunities to perform at community events throughout the year.

Practising weekly during term time in Carew Methodist Hall (on Thursdays after school), the choir is free to join as it has received some grant funding and is supported by various local churches.

The Korean visitors spent a week in and around Pembroke, meeting with churches across the community to share in worship, prayer and fellowship, joining Bethel at Pembroke Dock bandstand; Bethesda Baptist Church in Haverfordwest for a prayer rally, and a family fun day on Pembroke Commons.

Mayor of Pembroke Jonathan Grimes met them at Pembroke Town Hall on July 9. He said:

“One of the most moving parts of our conversation was learning about their connection to Wales. Their visit is inspired by Robert Jermain Thomas, the Welsh missionary whose work is widely recognised as an important early link in the spread of Christianity to Korea. Today, they see their mission as an opportunity to pray for revival in Britain and to "repay the debt of the gospel" by bringing prayer back to the country from which missionaries once travelled to Korea.

“It was an absolute honour to spent time with them.”
