PEMBROKE Dock’s Fun in the Park on May 24 was a resounding success, with families flocking to the Memorial Park to enjoy free entertainment and affordable food in glorious weather.
The free inflatables went down well with the children, while visitors also appreciated drinks at “sensible prices” and the inexpensive, high quality food provided by the Pennar Hall team, who remarked: “Lovely to see lots of Pembroke Dock residents enjoying the sunshine and atmosphere.”
It was a glorious, hot day with fabulous music for all to enjoy, including The Western Shires, Tin Man Revolution and Sorted Ska Band. Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club came to show off their iconic cars, much to the appreciation of all who saw them.
Pembroke Dock Town Council also came in for praise for its part in putting on such a fantastic free event, complete with litter collectors and staff to look after the WCs.
The Council in their turn thanked all who attended the memorial park today and all the outstanding traders, entertainers and volunteers who turned up to serve the public.
“Special thanks needs to go to the security team and Dyfed Powys Police who kept everyone safe… but also tended to a medical emergency at the event ensuring the safety of everyone.”
Mayor Cllr Tony Wilcox said: “Huge congratulations to Sarah and her team for organising this amazing affordable event for our town – also well done indeed to all stallholders who attended as your involvement made it the success it was.”
“Wonderful day out with my nieces and nephews,” commented one of the many who had been impressed by the event. “Great friendly atmosphere music and of course the bouncy castles.”
New residents in the town, experiencing the event for the first time said they loved it, while another park-goer said it was “lovely to see a community getting together and enjoying a wonderful event.”
Councillor Michele Wiggins’ reaction was: “Thank you so much Pembroke Dock Town Council, what a wonderful event! Thank you to all the helpers, all the stalls, all the lovely bands that played for us today and all the lovely supporters who joined us.”
