DESPITE much wind and rain, New Hedges Women’s Institute had their June meeting in a member’s garden. More accurately, the members were comfortably seated in the garage.

While the sun was trying to come out, President Ann Maggs began the meeting with this month’s business. The County Newsletter was reviewed, and members were reminded about coach pick-ups for the trip to Cardigan in July.

After tea and plentiful delicious cake, it was decided that the weather was good enough to venture out and inspect the beautiful gardens.

Returning to the garage, the ladies held their monthly raffle; judged the competition ‘A Single Flower,’ won by Jan Evans; and solved some word games.

Ann thanked everyone for their contributions to the afternoon, which had been yet again a lovely chance for a get-together, despite the weather.

The July meeting will again celebrate summer with homemade cocktails and nibbles. It will be held in New Hedges Village Hall on July 9 at 2pm. All are welcome: just turn up!
