MEMBERS of Kilgetty WI were not deterred by the bad weather on Tuesday, November 11 when they came out to support their Annual General Meeting.
The meeting was preceded by a short monthly business meeting where vice president Julia Mills welcomed and updated everyone on upcoming events. These include a WI coffee morning on Saturday, December 13 at WI House in Haverfordwest and a carol service at 2pm on December 10 at at St Issell’s Church, Saundersfoot.
Julia informed members that she felt privileged to have laid a wreath on behalf of Kilgetty WI at the remembrance service in Kilgetty the previous Sunday. She also thanked those members who had responded to the ‘shoebox appeal’ organised by the Rotary club.
Treasurer Sylvia Wright gave her monthly financial report. Helen Knight informed members of a Festival of Christmas Trees to be held at Begelly Church between December 10 and January 5. Members were encouraged to contribute to decorating a tree in green, white and purple to represent the WI. Nicole Bowles updated members on president Lyn Lawson’s progress and finalised plans for a Christmas lunch at the Begelly Arms.
Members enjoyed refreshments and delicious homemade cakes baked by Julia and Shirley Cox (secretary), after which the AGM got underway. Presidents’ reports and the treasurer’s report were read. The current committee was dissolved and a new committee was formed, with Julia Mills being voted in as president.
Mary Perry won the raffle and Penny Brace’s motto - ‘Be kind; you never know what someone is going through’ - was chosen for the forthcoming year.
The next meeting takes place at 12 noon on December 9 for a Christmas lunch at the Begelly Arms (pictured above).
