A WONDERFUL aroma of fragrances filled the air when Kilgetty WI members arrived at the community centre for their October meeting.

Julia Mills (vice president) opened the meeting and warmly welcomed everyone. Sylvia Wright (treasurer) gave a financial report and Nicole Bowles updated members on plans for a Christmas lunch in December.

Members volunteering to fill a Christmas box organised by the Rotary club to ‘spread a little happiness’ in Eastern Europe were advised they need to be donated by the end of the month. Julia encouraged members to write a new motto for the forthcoming year and to volunteer to be actively involved and join the WI committee. Nicole gave a positive update on president Lyn Lawson and members expressed hope they would see her soon.

October birthday wishes went to Chris Blundell, and to Helen Knight, who stepped in at the last minute as the scheduled speaker was not able to attend.

Helen has 20 years’ experience in Holistic healing and Aromatherapy. Her talk on the use and benefits of essential oils was very interesting and informative. The wonderful fragrance in the air was from an infuser containing Frankincense and Patchouli, she explained. Helen had brought with her a vast choice of essential oils for the ladies to experience and an array of bath, body and skincare products from Neals Yard. She explained how oils can be used to treat ailments from A through to Z.

The topic proved to be very popular and members had the opportunity to order products at the end of the evening.

Monica Thomas won the raffle.

Next meeting is on November 11 at Kilgetty Community Centre.
