Pembrokeshire County Council's economy overview and scrutiny committee broke with tradition recently to take their meeting to the Bridge Innovation Centre in Pembroke Dock

Committee chairman, Clr. Michael John, is keen to get greater public input to the meetings which currently examining marine renewable energy in the county.

The change of venue from County Hall, Haverfordwest, for the January 13 meeting, attracted interest and input from businesses in the marine energy sector.

The economy overview and scrutiny committee review and scrutinise issues relevant to the well-being of the economy in the county.

Recent reviews by the committee have included looking at support for the tourism and agriculture sectors, while members have also been keen to monitor the roll out of Superfast Broadband.

Clr. John said after the meeting: "Overview and scrutiny committees play a valuable role in the council's improvement and governance arrangements and we welcome the views of the public."

The council has forms on its website inviting views of the public on topics any of the authority's committees are considering. There is also a form for suggestions of topics that the committee could discuss.
