A coffee morning in memory of Dawn Howells of Millfield Close Pentlepoir was held at The Begelly Arms recently, with the magnificent sum of £6,800 raised from the event.

The charity event which took place on October 2, was organised by Dawn’s daughter Natalie who worked extremely hard to get everything together.

With the kind hospitality and support of Peter and Jackie Adams, the event was well supported by family, friends and the wider community with these difficult times ongoing.

It was a tremendous effort made by everybody who donated money, raffle prizes, cakes and numerous other items, and the support was testimony to how much Dawn was respected, loved and thought of.

Thanks must go to all family friends for helping on the day and especially thanks to Peter, Jackie and staff for working so hard donating and providing the venue.

A presentation was made last week at The Begelly Arms, with cheques for £3,400 to Macmillan and £3,400 to Paul Sartori, accepted by the charities.

It has to be mentioned that in October 2019 a coffee morning was also held which had been organised by Dawn, when she had struggled so hard at that time to make every effort for it to be a great success. The amount raised for Macmillan totalled £7879.97 and she was so proud of the outcome.

Soon after her battle became so hard to fight that Dawn unfortunately passed away on November 17 of that year, at great sadness to Graham, her family and friends.

A presentation was not made at the time due to her deterioration but the cheque was handed to a Macmillan representative.

“We cannot thank everyone enough for the continued support Dawn had been given over the time of her illness, it was a great comfort,” said members of her family and friends.
