Young people in Pembrokeshire who are spending their first Christmas in their own home after leaving the care system, and some that are about to reach adulthood and move on from care, have been given a festive boost from local organisations.

Pembrokeshire County Council's foster care team has received donations from Milford Haven Port Authority, Wilkinsons, and Murco, and a generous discount from B&Q.

The funds have been used to buy Christmas trees, lights and some presents for the 21 young people.

All have been in the foster care system, progressing to approved lodgings and some are now out of the system and on their own for the first time.

"We are very grateful for these donations, which will go a long way towards helping the young people enjoy their first Christmas in their own accommodation," said Tudor Walters, customer service manager of the leaving care team.
