Sir,
On behalf of Tenby Fire Station, could you be so kind and allow us to thank everyone for their support and commitment in this year’s centenary carnival.
These are a few words to express our gratitude to everyone that has contributed towards our centenary event.
Every year, we are overwhelmed by the generosity and support we receive. Without this, it would simply be impossible to run such a successful carnival of this scale.
Each August, the carnival demonstrates how a community can work together to create an event enjoyed by both locals and visitors to our town.
This year saw an even larger level of support with the variety of events that took place to mark the centenary.
In addition to the extra events added in the run up to the centenary carnival, ‘100 years of Tenby’s Carnivals’ was also created. We would like to thank the many locals who have helped us to create the book by contributing old photos and anecdotes.
Thank you to Andrew Lowe of Signature Design who designed and produced the beautiful book.
We that are sure that everyone who has purchased one will appreciate the hard work and time that went in to bringing this to life and hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane as much as we did!
The film night saw a pop up cinema screening of ‘Backdraft’ in our station, complete with deckchairs and refreshments.
Thank you to Ashley and family from Oh My Cod/The Jazz, Willy from the deckchairs and Rooms With A View for your support with creating such a memorable and successful event.
Thank you also to W.A.F.E.R.S The Restoration Society provided an array of Fire Service Memorabilia.
The Open-Air concert that was arranged for the Thursday, kindly supported by the Tenby Male Voice Choir, was unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather.
Thank you to Tenby Museum for allowing us to use their facilities for the book launch on the Friday.
Our Open Day would not be possible without the fantastic support of the wives and partners of the crew, along with retired Fire Service personnel – thank you!
Thank you to all of the local organisations and individuals who support us through raffle prize and cake donations.
Finally, thank you to the many, many locals over who continue to take part in the walking classes, floats, as carnival queens and princesses, bands and judging of our wonderful carnival.
Each year it is clear just how many hours have gone in to the creation of the amazing costumes and decorations on display.
Thank you to the local agencies who assist in the safe policing of the procession.
Our last, but not least, thank you goes to Tenby House, the main sponsor of the event, for your continuous support and generosity.
This is truly a wonderful event to be part of.
Many thanks from all at Tenby Fire Station
