Local councillors have backed a suggestion to introduce speed calming measures on a busy road out of Tenby.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, members received correspondence from a visitor to the town who explained that they had a caravan at Kiln Park and had holidayed in the resort for 30 years.
“Is there anyway you could think about putting a speed bump on the road outside the chip shop on Upper Park Road?” wrote Mr. David Lervy.
“I along with my family and by watching others, find it very difficult and dangerous to cross the road from the bus stop outside the multi-storey car park toward the town centre. Cars tend not to indicate or turn sharply if they are unsure where they are supposed to go to enter the car park,” he continued.
Clr. Will Rossiter commended the letter and agreed with its content.
“What they say is correct. The road does get very narrow and we need to protect pedestrians crossing at that point,” he said, with his colleague Clr. Tish Rossiter concurring.
“It’s always been an awkward spot to cross, so I second the suggestion,” she remarked.
Clr. Mike Evans said he would prefer to see a raised crossing bed introduced in that area, similar to the examples in Tudor Square.
The Mayor said that the town council would write to Pembrokeshire County Council’s head of highways and construction, Darren Thomas, with their views.
