The Darwin Centre recently supported the Bungee off the Bridge event run by the Pembroke Dock regeneration committee, by bringing the University of Wales Trinity St. David team of extreme sports engineers to Pembrokeshire to engage with students from our sixth forms.
The event, sponsored by Dragon LNG, was held on Friday before the bungee extravaganza, and saw 40 pupils from the county take part in presentations led by scientists and engineers that run physics courses at the university’s Swansea campus.
During the presentation, the students learnt about the various forces and techniques that engineers use to help develop new materials and technologies in the world of extreme sports. The extreme sports industry is a booming part of the UK economy with a wide range of exciting careers.
The Darwin Centre aims to help raise the profile of STEM Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths across Pembrokeshire. More information can be found on the Darwin Centre Facebook, twitter and website accounts.
