It is often said of Pembrokeshire people that we have a long memory. Well, it is our memories of late loved ones, established however long ago, which will be remembered and celebrated with a distinctive church service in Pembroke Dock on Saturday, November 1.
Known for many years as 'In God's Hands,' the service, which will take place in St. John's Church on the corner of Bush Street and Church Street at 6 pm, is open to anyone of any age touched by the death of a family member or friend, or maybe of a person to whom they felt connected in some other way.
There will be well-known hymns, words of comfort from the Bible and, possibly most important of all, the reading of the names of loved ones who have previously died. It will be a service of quiet reflection and, in the run up to it, friends and relatives are warmly invited to pass the names of loved ones to the Vicar for reading out.
Rev. Nicky Skipworth said: "In God's Hands is such a special opportunity to come together under the shadow of God's wing with thanksgiving, love and hopefulness for all who have been loved and lost. We warmly invite local people, or visitors to the area, to join us on Saturday, November 1, and, if they so choose, to let us know who they would like to be remembered by name during the service.
