And in a surprising twist, Barafundle Beach, which ranks in the study as the second best in the UK, has been judged best for fish and chips, despite it being only accessible using a stretch of the coast path!

Sam Sheehan, motoring editor at cinch, said: “To determine the best UK beach locations for your Easter staycation, we analysed the top 20 traveller-favourite beaches from TripAdvisor, ranking them on average March temperature, Instagram popularity, parking prices and the number of fish and chips shops in the area.

“According to data from Parkopedia, parking spaces around Barafundle Beach (Wales) are free of charge,” he added.

Eating fish and chips on Good Friday is a tradition for many people across the country.

“If you’re set on eating some battered cod or fried scampi during your Easter trip by the sea, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Barafundle and nearby locations,” claims cinch. While Barafundle Beach is indeed a rare patch of unspoilt beauty, for your Good Friday fish and chips by the sea the Tenby Observer advises heading to Tenby or Saundersfoot. Both towns offer a choice of highly recommended takeaways and, with beaches right on the doorstep, the food should still be lovely and warm when you sit down to eat it.
