In response to the above and the leaked information relating to the council purchase of offices at 28 Dimond St, Pembroke Dock, the nature of which of which was discussed by councillors in private and confidential session, the majority of councillors are fully aware of and understand the codes of conduct, however it is once again extremely disappointing to see that there exist within Council one or two councillors who do not understand the meaning and intentions of matters discussed under private and Confidential and blatantly ignore the codes of conduct all councillors subscribe to when taking office.
We would strongly suggest that whoever is responsible for divulging private and confidential information to a third party to seriously consider whether they are suitably enabled to understand that which is necessary to serve as a Pembroke Dock Town Councillor and their responsibilities to other councillors and the general public.
Their actions have betrayed any trust in ensuring that confidentiality exists within council for any member of the public who wishes to discuss any personal issues with a councillor. This betrayal, sadly, now blights all councillors.
With regards to the offices at 28 Dimond St, the desire to purchase this property is and has been general knowledge, what has been private and confidential is negotiations with the owner and this will remain so.
Concerning the Pater Hall, we confirm that councillors are not determined to close this building as stated in the anonymous letter, in fact we would advise that, as reported by the Chair of finance, the Pater Hall was in fact self sufficient with its day to day running costs and not at risk of closure. Furthermore, he reported that the Finance committee agreed support for improvements and repairs which have been highlighted following condition survey of the property. The comments in the anonymous letter are both mischievous and spurious, with the apparent intention to cause conflict.
The majority of Pembroke Dock Town Councillor subscribe to information being shared with the Public, there are times when this is not possible and requires private debate, that said both the undersigned extend an invitation to whoever wishes to claim responsibility for the anonymous letter writer, to meet with either or both of us and in public if you so wish, to discuss further your concerns.
