It was a rainy and blustery night but almost full attendance for the November Kilgetty WI meeting at the Community Centre

After welcoming everyone, president Kath said that she was now stepping down as president after four years, adding that she had thoroughly enjoyed it but it was now the right time to hand over to someone else.

Some members of the committee were also stepping down from their duties, allowing others to form a fresh committee for the following year.

Various speeches and thanks followed and - for all of their hard work and contributions to WI - lovely bunches of flowers were given to Kath as president; Anne, deputy president; Monica, treasurer and Helen, secretary.

Items of interest from the monthly newsletter were then discussed. Pembrokeshire WI Chair Jenny Longland is also retiring in November.

PFWI is next week in Haverfordwest and Quite a few of members would be going to PFWI in Haverfordwest. Various other interesting trips include a shopping trip to Cardiff.

The rose bowl competition for next year is Welsh Myths and legends, which Kilgetty WI is hoping to enter through the new craft group which has just started and running on a monthly basis at present. The glass workshop arranged by Anne is on Tuesday 28th Nov at 2pm in the large room at the community centre.

The Saundersfoot rotary boxes (459) to which Kilgetty had contributed are being sent to Romania and Moldova this year.

Members had been asked to comprise a motto for 2024. A vote was taken and the winner was Chris Blundell whose motto was: “The past cannot be changed, but look forward to the future, as everyone’s journey is different.“

Tea, coffee and cakes followed the business with an enjoyable quiz hosted by Kath. The winners had a great score and received a beautifully wrapped prize each. Kath won the competition for a photo taken with a famous person, while Anne won the most entered competitions and also won the raffle prize.

At the end of a thoroughly enjoyable evening, each member had a beautiful Pembrokeshire calendar to go home with, depicting local photos taken by a WI member.

Meeting closed by Kath at 9.10pm. Next meeting is Tuesday, December 12 at 7pm and will be a Christmas event with plates of food to share being brought by members.
