A Tenby man found in possession of cannabis at his home has been fined in court.

Thirty-two-year-old Luke Jake Keane, of Heywood Court, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, charged with two counts of cannabis possession.

Mr. Keane admitted to having in his possession of 24 grams of herbal cannabis on one occasion, and 0.35 grams of the drug on another.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told magistrates that police officers attended the defendant’s property and recovered the drugs and also a grinder.

Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that his client takes cannabis as it helps him get to sleep and relax.

“He is a social user and there is no suggestion that it was for anything other than personal use,” he said.

Magistrates fined Mr. Keane £80 for both offences and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge. A destruction order for the drugs was also made.
