A Saundersfoot motorist has been banned after admitting a drink-drive charge after his vehicle overturned.
Twenty-two-year-old Christopher Davies, of Bevelin Hall, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving his Vauxhall Corsa with 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He also admitted a charge of driving the car otherwise in accordance with a licence.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan explained that the incident occurred shortly before 12.30 am on June 23, when police officers were called to the scene at Devonshire Drive in St. Florence.
“The driver was smelling of intoxicants and refused a roadside test,” she said.
Mr. Davies’s test proved positive at the police station after his arrest, and it was discovered that he was a provisional licence holder only.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that his client was of clean character.
“He was getting to work by motorbike under his provisional licence, and of course he has now lost that as well.
“Mr. Davies is unable to explain why he was out that night in the car. He has been experiencing personal difficulties with relationships and debt, and took the foolish decision to go out for a spin and clear his head, but didn’t realise he was over the limit.”
Magistrates fined him £140 for the offence and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.Mr. Davies was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge, and his licence was endorsed with three penalty points for the no insurance charge.
