A Pembroke Dock man is set to go on trial next month after pleading not guilty to a speeding charge.
Forty-one-year-old Leighton Clarke, of Church Street appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to make a ‘statutory declaration’ after he was alleged to have failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle, namely a Renault Megane Expression who was found guilty of a speeding offence on the A477 Milton by Llanelli Magistrates Court in their absence.
Mr. Clarke pleaded not guilty to a charge dating back to October 2, 2017, where he is alleged to have driven the Renault Megane on the A477 Milton, at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour.
He also denied a charge of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle.
It is alleged that the speed recorded by means of laser by the Safety Camera Unit that Mr. Clarke was driving at was 54 mph in a 40 zone.
Another matter relating to a speeding matter where Mr. Clarke is accused of driving at 100 mph on the A48 dual carriageway in Pensarn, Carmarthen, was adjourned to tie up with the other cases.
A trial date was set for Monday, October 21, to be held at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court.
