A Milford man whose noisy car exhaust attracted the attention of police officers on duty has been banned from driving for 18 months after admitting a drink drive charge in court.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that police officers on patrol at 2.15 am in Pembroke Dock on April 8, were travelling behind Mr. Brown in his Subaru Imprezza heading towards the Cleddau Bridge, when the vehicle’s exhaust made a loud noise that drew the attention of the officers.
“They pulled the car over and asked the driver if he was ok. He said he was looking for change for the toll for the bridge, but officers noticed that his speech was slurred.
“Mr. Brown was asked to provided a roadside specimen and gave a positive reading at the police station of 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, after his arrest,” she continued.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that Mr. Brown had been out that day drinking but had stopped a good few hours before he was stopped in his vehicle.
“I guess it’s a lesson to anyone that it takes alcohol a good while to pass through the system,” he remarked.
Magistrates disqualified the defendant from driving for 18 months and fined him £120 for the offence.
Mr. Brown was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
