A man accused of driving offences in Pembroke Dock and drugs possession has been charged in court.

Thirty-eight-year-old Christopher John Brockway of Back Lane, Haverfordwest, appeared at the town’s magistrates court on Tuesday to plead guilt to the three offences.

The driving matters related to an incident on November 21, at Milton, Pembroke Dock, with Mr. Brockway admitting to driving a motor vehicle, on a road, namely the A477 westbound, otherwise than in accordance with a licence; and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance.

He also pleaded guilty to a further charge of possessing 8.72 grams of heroin on November 27 in Haverfordwest at the same hearing.

Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that police executed a warrant at the defendant’s premises and recovered the drugs from the sofa where Mr. Brockway was sleeping on.

“He told officers that the drugs were for his own personal use. Mr. Brockway has several previous convictions and is currently subject to a community order.

“The facts very much speak for themselves on the driving charges, police officers stopped his vehicle and discovered his licence had expired,” he said.

Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that Mr. Brockway had taken full responsibility for his actions.

“It is some five years ago that he last came before the court on drugs matters. This has been a wake-up call for him and he has voluntarily sought help for his drug difficulties,” he explained.

Magistrates fined Mr. Brockway a total of £160 for the driving offences, and his licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

He was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

For the drugs possession charge, Mr. Brockway was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 in costs.

“We will allow the community order to run, but the circumstances maybe different if you’re back here again,” chairman of the magistrates bench Roger James Mathias told the defendant.
