AN elderly man has been airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured when a cow escaped a from a market earlier today (Saturday).
The ‘dangerously out of control cow’ escaped from Whitland Mart at around 10.15am this morning (Saturday) according to Dyfed-Powys Police.
The cow made its way to the centre of the village before trampling an elderly man on North Road, causing serious injury. He was later airlifted to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
The animal made its way from the scene of the attack to the railway track that runs through the village causing trains to be halted
A police spokesperson said: “Eventually it made its way to a field, where every effort was made to safely contain it in consultation with the owner.
“Unfortunately all attempts failed, and due to the danger posed by the animal it was humanely dispatched.
“The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
