A Milford motorist who was caught driving with a quantity of drugs in his system has been handed a 12 month disqualification.
Thirty-nine-year-old Adrian Lewis, of Priory Road, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to charges of driving aVauxhall Astra, with a quantity of cocaine and cannabis in his system.
Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that Mr. Lewis was stopped by police during the early hours of March 9, on the A4076 at Merlins Hill, for a moving traffic offence.
“Officers conducted a road side test which proved positive. The defendant said that he had smoked some cannabis a short time before,” he explained.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that his client who worked for a local retailer was of previous clean character.
“When he said that he’d smoked cannabis a short time before, obviously he meant the previous day, as this offence occurred at 1.20 am,” he said.
Magistrates fined the defendant £276 for each offence and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
Mr. Lewis was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
