A drink-driver spotted by police travelling at some speed has appeared in court to admit the charge.
Thirty-one-year-old Joseph Fraser, of Maesybryn, Llandissilio, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to admit a charge of driving a Volvo on the A478 Clunderwen after exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol.
Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that around 11 pm on January 18, police officers saw Mr. Fraser’s car travelling at some speed and followed him for a short distance before pulling the vehicle over.
A roadside test proved positive and the defendant provided a reading of 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at the police station after being arrested.
Defence solicitor Katy Hanson told the court that her client accepted that he had been drinking on the day, but didn’t realise that he would be over the limit.
“He suffers with ADHD and is taking positive steps in relation to this. Mr. Fraser is extremely sorry to be appearing before the court today, he realises it is a very serious matter,” she added.
Magistrates handed the defendant a 19 month driving disqualification and fined him £120 for the offence.
Mr. Fraser was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
