A Narberth man who was found to be carrying cannabis in his tobacco pouch on Christmas Eve has been handed a conditional discharge after admitting the offence in court.

Twenty-year-old, Adrian Terrence William Moseley of Hill Park appeared a Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he admitted possessing 0.5 g of cannabis.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that officers were dealing with a separate incident in Haverfordwest on December 24, when they had cause to search the defendant, finding £5 worth of the Class B drug on him.

Magistrates heard that the defendant had a previous conviction back in 2010 for a drugs related matter.

Defence solicitor Katy Hanson told the court that her client queried the amount of cannabis that he was charged with, saying it was an extremely small amount.

When the police spoke to him, the defendant admitted that the drugs were his and that he intended to smoke it.

She added that Mr. Moseley had not been in trouble for some time.

Magistrates opted to give the defendant a 12-month conditional discharge and he was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 along with a £21 victim surcharge.

A destruction order was also made for the drugs.
