A Narberth man with a long list of offences to his name was back in court again this week after admitting a charge of possessing cannabis.
Thirty-three-year-old Angelo Edwards, of Garfield Gardens, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to admit a charge of being in possession of one gram of cannabis on October 3.
Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that police officers attended Mr. Edwards’s home address to conduct a curfew check.
“The defendant’s mother answered the door and allowed officers to come in, where they went into Mr. Edwards’s bedroom and could smell cannabis,” he explained.
Officers discovered the bag of cannabis on the floor and picked it up, before Mr. Edwards asked them ‘can I have a bit of personal in my own home - can I have my weed back, so I can have a spliff’.
The court heard that Mr. Edwards had a number of previous convictions to his name, the most recent in October for criminal damage.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that it was a very low amount of cannabis, the bottom end of the scale.
“He does have an antecedent history, but his convictions for drugs are very limited. Mr. Edwards is subject to a community order which lasts until next October, but probation tell me that he is complying with the order very well,” added Mr. Webb, with the court hearing that the matter pre-dated the community order.
Magistrates fined Mr. Edwards £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
